Hire Me as an Editor, First Reader, or Writing Contest Judge

For the past few years I have been working as an editor providing feedback on flash fiction, short stories, and novels. I have worked with Amanda Saint at WestWord for a few years, and more recently with Sophie Cole at Fiction Factory. I provide edits and written reports for all lengths of work. I also undertake full manuscript edits independently.

In addition I have been a reader and judge (Globe Soup and Flash 500), and this is work I also love to do. If you have need of help in any of these roles, please do not hesitate to contact me, either by filling in a contact form on this site, or by emailing me at: [email protected]  I will be happy to talk about my rates with you, and am always willing to negotiate.

Endorsements for my work:

Debbi Voisey has worked for me now on several competitions, reading, sorting, helping to narrow down the selection to a Short List. She has also proved to be extremely useful and adept at critiquing Short Stories and entries to our First Chapter + Synopsis competitions. She seems to be a natural at honing in on the stronger and weaker areas of a piece of writing and explaining, carefully and with tact and encouragement, how the narrative might be strengthened.  No piece of writing seems to daunt her; she has constructive and encouraging suggestions to make at all levels. Moreover, she is always enthusiastic and willing to complete a task at short notice, and to deliver work punctually. She is organized and her communication is faultless. A real asset. I have no hesitation in recommending her skills.
 - Sophie Cole - Fiction Factory

Debbi has been working with me at Retreat West for the past few years and I have no hesitation in recommending her. As an editor she has great insights offering constructive and unique ideas for story development while highlighting what is already working well. As a workshop facilitator her teachings are insightful, encouraging and fun, and she is warm, welcoming and adept at making everyone feel at ease. She’s also a brilliant member of our online community sharing ideas, instigating chats, and helping make it a great place to be online. Always willing to help however she can, she’s a pleasure to have on your team.  -
