Monday Musings - Where Talos Turned His Head
I often feel like Greece is on another planet, or at least on a far out part of this one. Whenever I look out at the headland meeting the sea, I think about the film Jason and the Argonauts and one particular scene where the metal statue of the Colossus Talos awakens because Hercules has stolen a pin from the treasure he is guarding. It is one of the most vivid memories from my childhood film-watching, particularly the part where he turns his head slowly. He strides around the headland in his juddering, creaky way and it is terrifying (thanks to special visual effects by Roy Harryhausen) . I always expect him to come striding around whenever I look out to sea!
Anyway… while I was away I managed to get quite a bit of writing done, plus some planning for my upcoming workshops, so it was a very productive time.
Now it has to be all down to planning what I will be doing on my writing retreat to Nice, which is coming up in just under 4 weeks. I am off there for a week with my artist friend Sue. She will be painting and I will be writing. I need the space and the peace of Nice because I have a lot of projects I have to pull together.
What plans have you got for the next week or so? Writing, painting, reading (if so, what?). Post comments on here, I would love to hear what you have to say. Have a great week…
